What do you love about Brooklyn Junior High?
I have been at Brooklyn Junior since the spring of 2013. I first came here as a student teacher under Mrs. Green. After graduating I was hired on as a part time (.8) English teacher at Brooklyn Junior. I am so thankful that I was able to become a permanent part of the BJH family! Everyone, staff and students, here are so welcoming and energetic. We all work together very well to solve problems and help create a welcoming community for one another.
Where did you go to school?
I graduated from Mounds View High School in 2007. From there I went North about 200 miles to the chilly city of Duluth. I graduated from there in the Spring of 2012 with a degree in Teaching Communication Arts and Literature.
Why did you choose your profession?
I've always known teaching was the right profession for me. I love working and learning with others. I enjoy English because I like to watch TV and read! I didn't always love to read. At first, English was my default teaching subject. I wasn't very good at math, science or social studies. After having to take many, and I mean MANY, English courses in college I developed a love for reading that hasn't faded since. One of my favorite things to do is journal. I think English is an important subject in schools today, and I have a lot of fun teaching it!
What are your hobbies and interests?
I started dancing when I was three years old. Dance has been a large part of my life since day one. I danced competitively starting when I was 12 up until I graduated college. I am continuing to share my passion for dance today by coaching at a local High School. I begin coaching in July and end in December.
