Monday, September 16th

S+ English 7

Today in class we had the pleasure of listening to Mrs. Johnson, the 7th grade counselor, talk about our upcoming field trip.  Make sure to show your parents the yellow packet of information and bring it back, to me, signed by Friday.

We added informational text to our genre charts.  If you were absent, or forgot your sheet at home, please fill in your chart like the one below.

We also labeled the sections of our notebooks.  If you didn't have your notebook in class today, please make sure to do this for tomorrow.  See the slide directly below for more step by step directions on how to label it.

After learning about genre we took a look at a new piece of text, "Malala the Powerful".  We are going to be analyzing and reading this article for the rest of the week.  Don't lose it or you'll be sad!

We learned a little bit about the THIEVES pre-reading strategy.  In some classes, we were able to get all the way through it and in some were were not.  Regardless of where we stopped, you will reading the article tomorrow in class.

We will be working in the "Reader's Notebook" section of our notebooks tomorrow so make sure you have it for class tomorrow.

Thank you for being respectful when Mrs. Johnson was in our class today!
